Mitchel B. Alpert, M.D., is the director of Pediatric Cardiology at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-The Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He graduated from college at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and attended medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. He completed a Pediatric residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey and completed a Pediatric Cardiology fellowship at the New York University Medical Center.
Dr. Alpert is a Board Certified Pediatric Cardiologist having passed certification in 1991 and having recertified three times since then. He also participates in the ‘maintenance of certification process.’ He is a fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Alpert has a special interest in acquired heart disease including sudden death during exercise from prolonged Q.T. syndrome, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and anomalous coronary arteries in addition to Kawasaki Disease, infective endocarditis, and rheumatic fever.
In addition to his current clinical practice of pediatric cardiology, Dr. Alpert can be found at the UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School teaching the first and second year medical students. He also has been awarded the “distinguished teaching award” by the pediatric residents five times at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
He is married with two children and resides in Wall, NJ.
